Spelling Contract
You must do enough activities to total 40 points for the week.
5 point activities:
1. Write all words in ABC order.
2. Write each word in cursive 3 times.
3. Write the vowels in one color and the consonants in another.
4. Write your words in a rainbow of colors 2 times each. Use 4 colors.
10 point activities:
1. Write a synonym or antonym for each word. Use a thesaurus.
2. Classify words by parts of speech. (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc.)
3. Write each word 5 times.
4. Write each word and separate them in syllables. Use a dictionary.
5. Type your words on the computer using a different font for each word.
15 point activities:
1. Make a crossword or a seek and find puzzle at the website
www.puzzlemaker.com
Be sure to solve it!
2. Take a pretest with your parent and then write each word you miss 5 times
each.
3. Cut pictures from magazines and write captions for the pictures using 10
spelling words.
4. Write each spelling word sailboat style.

5. Go to www.spellingcity.com and play a game with your words. Have your
parent sign to verify that you did the work.
20 point activities:
1. Write the definition of each word from the dictionary.
2. Use each spelling word in a complete sentence that shows the meaning. Be
sure to vary the beginnings. Each sentence must have at least 8 words.
3. Write a short story using your words.
4. Use your words to report on an event. The event could be real or
imaginary. Remember to include Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? if you
can.
5. Write a poem using all your words.
