Spelling Contract
All contracts need to be completed
by Friday. If you are absent during the week, you are still responsible for
completing the spelling contract by the due date.
Directions: Complete a different
spelling activity each night for homework. Each paper should contain your name
and spelling contract on the title line. Please do the activities neatly, if I
can not read your handwriting you will redo the activity.
Activities
Use 8 words in a sentence. The
sentences should be good fourth grades sentences containing at least 6 words.
Do not start all the sentences with “I.”
Write our words three times each in
cursive
Make a
word search using all words
Find
our words in the newspaper or magazine and glue them to paper.
Use at
least 10 spelling words in a story. The story must make sense.
Rainbow
words (choose 3 crayons; write each spelling word in one color, then trace
over them in the other 2 colors).
Use
graph paper to create a word search puzzle using all of the words from the
list. Be sure to add an answer key.
Use
graph paper to create a crossword puzzle using all of the words from the list.
Be sure to add an answer key.
Write
a paragraph using at least half of the words from the list. Underline each
word used from the list.
Create
a classification chart showing how the words from the list can be divided into
groups. Possible groupings include -ing endings, words with prefixes, science
related words, etc.
Classify
the words according to their parts of speech.
Write
each word four times neatly in cursive.
Print
each word and circle the vowels in one color and the consonants in a different
color.
Make a
set of flash cards.
Write
the definition for each word.
Have a
family member give you a pretest. They should grade it and sign the paper.
Cut
the words out of a magazine and make a collage.
Pyramid
write your words. Example: Cloud

Write
your words in ABC order from a-z and then backwards from z-a.
Write
tongue twisters for each of your words using words that start with the same
letter as your word. Example: the word is said ~ Sam and Sally said “Si”
silently as they started speaking in Spanish.
Write
your words from the longest to the shortest.
Write
all spelling words separating the syllables with
different color markers / colored pencils. Use a
dictionary to do these correctly!
Draw a
picture illustrating 8 different spelling words. Pictures must be neatly drawn
and colored. Write each word under each picture.
