Spelling Contract Spelling Test will be given every 12 days on the same day as the Weekly Skills Test. The date of the Spelling Test will always be at the top of the Spelling Homework sheet. • 5 activities within the 2 week period- final activity must be a pre- test using all words signed by a parent or guardian. • Use different words each week or for each activity (other than pre- test) so that all words are studied. o For instance, if you have 16 words, choose 8 words to work with the first week, then work with the other 8 words the second week! o Another example- use 8 words for one activity and then the other 8 words for your next activity of the week. The choice is up to you! Spelling Activity Options List: * You cannot do the same activity twice in one homework cycle. • ABC order in cursive • Reverse ABC order • Spelling City: www.spellingcity.com Go to “find a list”- type in my last name- find your list – click on it. You can view, test, teach & play a game. The only printable game is Word Search. This is an activity choice. You must print the word search and turn it in. As soon as more games are available for printing, you may use those, as well. * If you use this website to practice your spelling words using other games, test me, or teach me your parent or guardian must sign your Homework/Behavior log stating that they witnessed this and it will be counted as one assignment. You may only do this once during a homework cycle. • Use each word in a 3rd grade sentence. Underline your spelling word and make sure your sentence includes a noun, a verb, an adjective, and a conjunction (what we previously called a combo word: and, but, so, because, or, however, until). • Look up the meaning of your vocabulary words in the dictionary. Write the meaning and the part of speech. • Write the word and it’s antonym (opposite meaning) and synonym (similar meaning) Make sure to label- ex: sad-happy antonym • Write or type your word 5 times • Write or type a story with your words. Make sure your story has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. • Make illustrations showing your words. Make sure to label your pictures with the words they represent. • Be creative with your words. Use arts and crafts to create your words. • Remember- Pre-test with a parent or guardian is your final assignment. Please write any incorrect word 5 times. You do not have to do this the night before the test, but it is highly recommended.
