About The Teacher

     I am currently entering my fourteenth year of teaching this 
year, the past seven having been right here at Parsley in fifth grade.  I 
attended UNC-Wilmington and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 
Elementary Education in 1993, then achieved my National Board Certification 
in 2003.  I love to learn new things and innovative ways to teach, then 
apply them to my classroom.

     On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Sean, for the 
past ten years.  We do not have any children yet, but we are the proud aunt 
and uncle to twelve nieces and nephews that we enjoy spending time with.  
In addition to spending time with family and friends, in my spare time I 
like to shop, travel, cook, read, lay by our pool, or watch a good movie.

     I will foster my students' independence to prepare them for middle 
school and beyond.
     I will challenge myself through my planning and teaching, to allow my 
students to achieve their personal best while enjoying learning.
     I will encourage and celebrate "out-of-the-box" thinking, collaboration, 
and creativity, while respecting the individuality and integrity of each of 
my students.
