Introduction
Pretend you work for your state's Division of Tourism.  Your boss has given you the job of creating a presentation to put on their website that gives information about your state.

The Task
You will use the Internet to search for facts about your state.  You will then create a PowerPoint presentation that tells the facts that you've learned about your state.

The Process
Look at the Evaluation Rubric
.  This will tell you how your final product-your PowerPoint presentation-will be assessed.

Print the State Fact Sheet if you don't already have a copy.

Use the Internet resources below to collect facts and pictures about your state.  Record the facts you learn on your State Fact Sheet.  Save the necessary pictures on your computer.

After you've completed your fact sheet, you're ready to begin your PowerPoint presentation.  Since this is only our second PowerPoint presentation this year, we will all put the same information on each slide.  If you do not have a copy of the PowerPoint Storyboard, print it.  Create your presentation based on the storyboard layout directions.

Internet Resources
Use the following websites to find facts about your state:

KidSpace at the Internet Public Library: Stately Knowledge To learn facts about your state, click on its name in the table.
America's Story: Explore the States Click on your state to explore!
NetState
Click on your state's name -OR- click in the drop-down boxes to learn specific information about your state.
InfoPlease: The Fifty States To
find facts about your state, either click on the state on the map or use the scroll bar below the map to select your state.

Evaluation
Your presentation will be evaluated using the Evaluation Rubric.
You will complete a rubric on your own, and your teacher will complete a rubric also.  Be sure check the rubric frequently as you work on your presentation to ensure you are meeting the criteria!

Conclusion
After completing your PowerPoint presentation, you can share it with the other students in 5th Grade so you'll be an expert at all 50! After the presentation I will place a link for everyone to VOTE for their favorite PowerPoint presentation!!
