Introduction
Hello Students! As you all know, we are now in the middle of reading the text Esperanza Rising! This webquest will allow you to dive deeper into issues involved within the story and learn more about Esperanza's culture, country and life experiences! This webquest will help you better understand the reasons for Esperanza's state of distress when she is forced to move from Mexico to the United States. Be prepared to come along on Esperanza's life changing journey!

Task
Students, your overall task is to learn more about Esperanza's country (Mexico) and her reasons for being forced to move to the United States to find work. Your main and end goal is to be able to compare and contrast Esperanza's life in Mexico versus her life in the United States. Some of you will be researching general topics about the United States and Mexico. Some of you will be researching Great Depression and the reasons for it. Some of you will be researching migrant camps and the reasons for them.

After all groups have completed and presented their product, we should all have great background knowledge about Esperanza's situation. After reading the text and researching through this webquest on your assigned topic, you will create a product showing the knowledge that you have gained. You will create a 15 slide power point presentation over your assigned topic.

The Process

Students, you are now ready to get started with your webquest. Make sure that you read your directions carefully. As you will see, you are given links to websites that you are to look at and review.
