Our Science units are taught utilizing a very hands-on approach which includes the use of problem solving and critical thinking skills. The studies are also integrated into all of the subject areas and included in our Discovery Station.
There are four main units of study.
•Balance and Motion
observe the way in which things move
describe the motion of objects
observe that movement can be affected by pushing or pulling
observe that objects can move steadily or change direction
•Solids and Liquids
determine the many ways in which objects can be grouped or classified
classify solids according to their properties
determine the properties of liquids
•Pebbles and Sand
describe and sort a variety of earth materials based on their properties
describe rocks and other earth materials
observe the components needed to make soil and compare soil samples
explore useful earth materials and how they are used
•Living Organisms
investigate the needs of plants
investigate the needs of animals
observe how humans are similar to other organisms
discuss the wide variety of living organisms on earth
