BOOKS FOR BABIES is a program that the Parsley Elementary School Library Media Center is providing for the members of our learning community. A book will be provided for each student in the school who has a new brother or sister born during the school year (or summer) to give to his/her new sibling. The student would come to the library and be able to select a new book, write the baby's name in the book, read it to the librarian (or she would read it to him/her if student is not yet a reader), and then wrap the book and take it home as a gift from the student. The purpose of this program is to establish the importance of early literacy, and to provide an opportunity for the older sibling(s) to be recognized as an important part of the baby's learning environment. Please be sure to let the librarian, Mrs. Williamson, know as soon as you can after the baby is born. The telephone number is 790-2355, extension 710, or you can have the student tell Mrs. Williamson personally. If you have any questions, please call or email Mrs. Williamson.
