Verb Power

The verb is the main word in the predicate. Most verbs are action verbs. An 
action verb tells what the subject does or did. Action verbs also tell about 
actions you cannot see.

A verb may be more than one word. The main verb shows the action in the 
sentence. The helping verb helps the main verb show an action. Together, the 
main verb and the helping verb form a verb phrase. Some common helping 
verbs: has, are, will, am, is, was, were, shall, have, had, can, could, and 
should.
