Lions Live!

Quiet on the set! Lions Live! is in its 8th year as the student-run St. Mark Catholic School morning news program on channel 61. Students in grades 6-8 can audition for one of eleven positions on the program during the spring semester each year.

Lions Live! members perform a different job each day on the show, from anchor to director, from camera to sound and lights.  Membership requires the ability to work as a member of a creative team and the maintenance of an overall academic average of 80.

New Lions Live! members shadow an experienced member for the first few weeks and then they perform with assistance for a few more weeks.  Throughout the school year members receive additional training in  articulation and voice projection, use of camera and lights and other related skills.  Two annual field trips to a television station and a high school television production enhance training.

Lions Live! members are also trained to use the school's high-tech sound system and they have distinguished themselves by serving as DJs for the school's first middle school dance on October 30, 2009.  They created a play list utilizing their knowledge of music they and their peers want to dance to and they kept everyone dancing all night.  Congratulations to all the Lions Live! members for a job well done!  They are already getting ready for the next dance!  That's a wrap.
