About Mrs. Burns

Welcome to the Library Media Center! Mrs. Burns graduated from Ursinus
College, Collegeville, Pennsylvania, with a B.A. degree in French and
Spanish. She continued her studies in the iSchool, Drexel University,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received a Master's degree in Library
and Information Science.

Mrs. Burns has created and developed four very different libraries from the
ground up, including a marketing library for R.J. Reynolds Industries,
Winston-Salem, NC, a technical library for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
a renovated library for St. Mary Catholic School and the library media center
for St. Mark Catholic School. She has also served as the Assistant Director
of the Onslow County Public Library, Assistant Director of the Davidson
County Public Library and as New Hanover County Law Librarian.

Through her association with Discovery Education, Mrs. Burns has qualified to
become a Star Discovery Educator and she presently serves as the Program
Chair for the North Carolina Discovery Educator Network. She is also a member
of the North Carolina School Library Media Association. She was recently
appointed a member of the Scholastic Book Fairs Advisory Board.

When she's not off reading somewhere, Mrs. Burns loves to practice ballet,
yoga and pilates. Otherwise, you might find her out on the waterway paddling
her yellow kayak or happily applauding some of the amazing local theater
talent we have in Wilmington, especially that of former students!

Come visit the library soon!

"Whatever the cost of libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an
ignorant nation." ~Walter Cronkite
