Your children did a beautiful job during the entire Mass, today. For those of you who were able to be here, you can help me to share the glory of how beautiful our Mass was - from the beginning with our Greeters, to the very end with our Clean-up Crew. I am so very proud of each and every one of them.
Tomorrow is our big Field Trip! So, please read my email and enjoy a quiet evening of rest and relaxation - no homework!

Just a quick reminder to let you know that our class will be presenting Mass tomorrow, May 23, 2012. We'd love to know that you are in the pews, as we do our very best to show our love and faith to our God!

Good Afternoon, Parents,
I just wanted to get a note out to all parents, especially those who have let me know that they will be attending the State Field Trip with us. Please look over the list (sent home today) and invite one or more other chaperones to join you on this adventure. There are, at least, two very good reasons for carpooling…
1) Saves on gas money
2) Parking is very limited – and costs!
So, Sharing-the-Ride is worth it. Not to mention how much “fun” you will have all the way up and back, by visiting and sharing all the wonderful things going on in your children’s lives.
We will stop about half-way up toRaleigh. I want to say that it isRest Stop 364, the one that is in the Median of I-40. We will be having our Morning Snack and taking bathroom breaks by groups. You will have your list of students and they will be aware of who their chaperones are. So, this will be good practice for you all!
The snacks will be stored on the bus. I believe we have enough volunteers for our coolers and the bag of ice for each. I have a list of those parents who have offered to bring those for us.
I also need to make sure I have a couple of parents, riding in the same car, to be responsible for our lunches and drinks. Once you get there, you will need to find a parking space as close to our Lunch Area as possible. I will talk to you and share the location by the map I am providing to each of our Chaperones.
Please look over the Student Checklist. Great walking shoes should be at the top of your list.
Please know that I am adamant about the students being responsible for the items they take off the bus. They have been made aware that our chaperone’s most important job is to watch over our precious children-not carry items for them, take care of their money, cameras, etc. This will cause you to take your eyes off of all of the children in your charge. Big place…lots of people! I must also remind you to please refrain from using your cell phone, except, of course in case of an emergency. My number is910-616-5436. Please save it to your phone so that you may contact me anytime throughout the day, for any reason.
This is going to be a trip full of wonderful memories, I just know it!
Please feel free to call me with any other question or concern you may have, now.
Sincerely,
Mrs.Dee Schmid
Parent-Chaperones - Please check your child's bookbag for the note that includes all chaperones, based on the information I received. If I inadvertently left your name off the list or your plans have changed, please, just let me know!

ABOUT OUR FORT FISHER FIELD TRIP
Students are to wear dress down clothes that can get wet and dirty. Shoes must have closed-toes and be worn with socks (to avoid blisters). I highly recommend sunscreen. Hats are fine.
Students are to bring a change of clothes and a towel (in case they get too wet or dirty), in a labeled grocery bag, which will be left on the bus. A seperate labeled grocery bag should have a clean, dry pair of shoes and socks. This will be taken off the bus with us, if the weather allows us to do the outside water activities.
They will also need to bring a bagged lunch and a drink in a disposable container, with their name on both.
Parents who plan to chaperone:
Meet us at the school around 8:45 on Tuesday, May 15 or at Fort Fisher Aquarium around 9:45-10:00.
The cost for adults is $8.00.
Remember to wear clothes that you will be comfortable in for 2 hours out in the morning sun (in a damp, sandy place). Please know that I do highly recommend closed-toe shoes with socks for the activity and a change of shoes will come in very handy for you, as well.
I will bring bug spray, and you may want to for a "just in case".

Just a quick update...
We have some students (and parents) wanting a week of "Dress Down", as evidenced by the Pitch-In Contest. As of Tuesday Morning, our class is ahead by a few dollars, as announced by the crew on
Lion's Live.
Thank you, students for earning those extra dollars, and a special thanks to the parents who are also contributing - without us even knowing!
It is a great cause and would be quite a week if we did come out ahead!
Our Fort Fisher Field Trip is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us for some shrimpin' and fishin'! We could use your help and it would be a great opportunity to enjoy some "outside time" with your child and his/her friends.
May 03, 2012
Emails have been sent to all parents who wrote to let me know that they are wanting to attend our State Field Trip
scheduled for May 24th.
Please let me know if you did not receive the email and would like to have the opportunity to join us for a full-day (6 - 6) of great learning and memories! We are allowed a limited number of adults, and have a waiting list, but will do whatever we can to help make it possible for you to join us.
Also...
Our other big Field Trip, Fort Fisher, is scheduled for May 15th. We are asking for parents who are willing to get wet (and muddy) and who enjoys the heat of the sun to join us.
Please let me know, right away, if you are interested in joining us! We need you! The cost is $8.00 per adult; it's lots of fun and will actually give you a great idea of something to do with your family as a summer adventure!

Today begins the "At Home" Writing Activity with the use of
our Writer's Notebook.
This has been very
successful in the past years,
to give our parents a glimpse
at what we have been doing
in class to help us become the best writers
we can be.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Have someone time you. Allow yourself 10 to 15 minutes to
plan your writing.

include as many of the strategies that we have learned, as well
as those you have practiced at home this week, to produce a
successful Narrative Story.
Sunday (3/04):
Read your entire story aloud to your audience at home. Use
the evaluation sheet with a parent to see how you did. You
may want to make changes based on some of the suggestions
from your audience and/or the evaluation sheet. Be sure to
bring in all work, and especially the completed Narrative
Story and evaluation on Monday (3/05).
.... Happy Writing .... Happy Writing .... Happy Writing....

We will be going on the field trip to the Jazz Concert on Thursday,
February 23rd. All students need a permission slip in order to be allowed to attend.
Also, we will begin our Lenten Season with a very new and exciting Booklet. Each child will have a booklet of his/her own to work on throughout this special season.
It will go home from time to time, but please help your child to remember to return it daily, so that we may continue the journey in class as well as at home.
This looks to be a treasure for the whole family to read and use throughout the Lenten Season. Please feel free to let me know what you think of this booklet.
February 02, 2012
Report Cards are heading your way today! They are in the Green Communicator. Please look it over (keep it). Please sign and write any comments on the Purple Signature Sheet and place it back in the Report Cover to be returned in the Communicator. (Worth 50 Hurrah Cards if returned by tomorrow - Friday, February 03, 2012!)
...Also, please keep all graded papers at home...
January 25, 2012
We will be going on a Field Trip to the Cameron Art Museum on Wednesday, Feb. 1st. We will leave school at 12:00 and return by 2:00. Students will need to be in full-dress uniform. Our lunch time does not conflict with this trip, so please plan lunch as every other day. We are allowed two parents to chaperone. I need to know
(first-come-first-appointed) who would like to attend with us. I will base all requests by time/date of request.
We can't wait to see the exhibits!
January 23, 2012
Please look in your child's Homework Folder for some very important information about our students providing Community Service throughout our Catholic Schools Week, starting today!
Our School Goal is... 400 hours! The committee is asking each student to perform at least one hour, have it documented on the form and even add a picture, if possible. I know our fourth grade class can do that and more.
Plus...for every one hour of Community Service, my students will receive 2 hours of Reading on their Reading Log.
