If you are looking for a way to get in those volunteer hours, please
consider volunteering for lunch/recess duty! We NEED help on Monday,
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Our lunch time begins at 11:55 and recess

A Look at the Week of January 4, 2010
Religion
We are beginning our unit on the Mass. We will look at the Liturgy of the
Word, understanding how God's word opens our hearts to receive Him in the
Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Math
We will begin our unit on data collection and analysis. Children will learn
to read and interpret many different types of graphs.
We have begun giving timed math sheets. They will come home in your child's
Friday Folder each week. Use these sheets to monitor your child's progress
with memorizing basic addition facts. Here are some fun ways to continue
practicing those facts!

Language Arts
We will share the story of The Big Bushy Mustache this week. This selection
is a fun family story where a little boy learns a great lesson about taking
something that does not belong to him. We will practice writing dialogue in
stories in our Grammar lessons. This week begins our cursive writing
practice.
Science
Second graders will be WILD about the Weather during our Weather unit. We
will begin with a study of the water cycle, realizing how important this
process is to the condition of the air outside.
