Remember, this is a DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY, NOT AN INFORMATIVE ONE. That means
that I should be able to picture and experience the place with my senses. The
essay must have the proper heading, be double-spaced (typed or hand-written),
include a title, have examples of at least two forms of figurative language
(simile, metaphor, personification, or hyperbole), and appeal to at lease
three senses.
7th--Write sentences using vocabulary words (one per sentence)--dissuade,
ominous, allay, premonition, avert, calamity, fortitude, disposition,
perilous, deluge, pungent, extricate, and culprit. 7 sentences must be
complex, and 7 must be compound. Sentences must contain context clues as to
the definition of the word. Identify the type of sentence. Make sure the
sentence is properly punctuated.

6th--Because we did not have any class today due to the rosary, students who
did not finish their adverb acrostic poem in class must do so for
homework. (You will have to check it yourself.) Poems must have a title, the
verb and the adverb must have alliteration, and the adverbs must be

Wednesday. You do not have to finish the descriptive essay. We'll talk about

in class, the sentences I am using on the test come from your social studies
book (Chapter 6). Therefore, it might be good practice to look over Chapter 6
to see if you can recognize the nouns (common and proper) and pronouns in the
chapter. (And, you'll be studying for social studies at the same time!!!)
Remember to review all of the clues I have given you to help you recognize a
noun.
7th--Finish rough draft of folk tale persuasive paper. Make sure you are
telling what makes the tale well suited for ORAL tradition, not just what
makes it a good story. There is a difference!! When you tell stories out
loud, you must connect with your audience and keep them engaged.
