Reading Lists

Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County has a great web page of
suggestions for your child's reading.

http://www.bookhive.org/

Primary students can access our Bookflix website from home, where
animated versions of storybooks are matched to non-fiction titles, and
activities correspond to both. Just log in at:

Some students do not know what they are looking for. Below is an example of
the kinds of questions a librarian will ask when trying to help a patron
find a "just right book".

Reader’s Advisory Interview: A Questionnaire for Children

What have you read recently that you enjoyed?

What have you read that you have NOT enjoyed?

Are you trying to find an A/R book today?

Today are you looking for something…
·	Funny
·	Serious
·	Scary
·	Not scary please
·	Thoughtful
·	Mysterious
·	Happy ending
·	Adventure
·	Short
·	Long

Check the kind of reader you are (you may check more than one):
·	Fast and accurate
·	Slow and steady
·	I skip around
·	I get confused easily
·	I get bored easily
·	I hardly finish anything
·	I finish everything
·	I remember everything
·	I think about what I have read
·	I like to read the same thing over and over again
·	I prefer series books
