Update Monday 5/21 to add field day info
I apologize--I thought I'd finished the Web site posting, but evidently not!
Here's a
complete
(!) look at this week's activities:
* Religion:
We'll finish reading Chapter 26, Hail Mary. Then we'll
begin working on unit reviews in our textbook. Mass Friday; please
wear Mass uniforms.
* Math:
We'll continue unit 10, on measurement and data, with a look
at data analysis, including median and mean. We should finish these
lessons this week and will review next Tuesday 5/29 for a test
Wednesday 5/30. After that, we'll work on a variety of review and enrichment activities.
* Reading:
In my group this week, we'll learn about some elements of poetry (i.e., simile, metaphor, imagery, etc.) and try to identify these features in a task card game and poems.
* Science:
We'll conclude our lessons on plants this week. We'll review Tuesday 5/29 and take a test Wednesday 5/30.
Spelling is done for the year.
Old Salem Field Trip:
Our long-awaited trip is Tuesday! On Monday, your student will bring another copy of the field trip memo that went home earlier this month. I've posted a copy of the memo below this item. One addition: Please do not wear Crocs. Note that students must arrive at school by 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. The bus will leave promptly at 7:30 a.m.; it will not wait for latecomers.

Band demonstrations:
Mr. Shoff, the St. Patrick band teacher, will visit our classroom Friday morning to tell students more about the MACS elementary band program and let them try out a few instruments. Your student will come home Friday with a registration packet and information on his/her recommended instrument.
Upcoming events:
* Old Salem field trip--Tuesday 5/22.
* Field Day--Wednesday from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. (Rain date is Thursday, approximately the same times.) Students will enjoy popsicles during lunch. Thank you, PTO!
Please have students wear athletic shorts and their field day T-shirts (preordered and distributed earlier this month) or wear a T-shirt in their team color as noted here:
Irish green--Emily, Nicholas, John, Madi, Ryan, Hannah, Danny, Emery, Elena, Maggie.
Royal blue--Neely, Alex, Bryson, Roby, Aidan, Evie, Tommy, Nicole, Carissa, Tanner.
Also, please have students bring a towel, a plastic grocery bag, and a complete change of clothing, including underwear, shirt, shorts, shoes, and socks. The students will get really wet during the activities, and they'll change into dry clothes before lunch.
* Faculty/fourth grade kickball game--Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m.
* Friday--band demonstrations, in our classroom.
* Memorial Day--Monday 5/28; no school this day.
* Fifth-grade bridging--Tuesday 6/5 at 9 a.m. in the Family Life Center.
* Last day of school--Wednesday 6/6. Note this change: No Mass this day. We will have early dismissal; time hasn't been set yet.
* End-of-school family picnic--Wednesday 6/6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring dinner, chairs, blankets, and drinks; ice cream and music provided.
Reminders:
Order your student's school supplies for next year online through the Schoolpak site. The link is here.

Also, don't forget to order your student's yearbook. The form is in last Thursday's email packet.
That's it for this week. As always, thanks for your help and support!
