8th Grade Social Studies Project

“Global Issues”

Due Date:  Monday, December 7, 2009

 

 

Goal:  Identify three global issues our world is facing today.  Using your knowledge of European and American history of the 1700's, compare and contrast today’s issues with those of the 1700’s.

 

Task:  Define each global issue using the Global Analysis Model.  Compare how today’s issue is similar to a specific issue from the 1700's.  The Global Analysis Model is posted on the Worksheets tab.

 

Product:

Venn Diagram Per Issue-  You must create a Venn Diagram per issue for a total of three separate Venn Diagrams. Use the interactive Venn Diagram which is posted on the Worksheets page. Venn Diagrams are due on Tuesday, Novemeber 24th.

Five Paragraph Essay-  Essays are to be typed in Times New Roman 12 font. Your introductory paragraph must include a thesis statement and should identify the issues for which you based your research.  The following paragraph should state the first issue and include elaboration (specific examples) on the actual comparison.  Paragraphs three and four should mimic paragraph two.  The closing paragraph must include a general statement relative to how current issues can relate to issues in the past, and should restate the issues for which you based your research.
