Will my child have homework every night?

Yes, usually. Your child will have homework in Math, Spelling, Lang. Arts,
Reading and Social Studies most often. I try to limit the homework to no
more than four items a night. Sometimes, due to standardized testing or
concert nights, homework will be light or not given.

Will there be snack time?

Yes, in my classroom, we usually have snack around 10:00 a.m. I usually read
to the children then. Students may, but do not have to bring a snack. Of
course we would like students to bring only healthy snacks such as fruit,
veggies, pretzels, nuts, raisins, etc. If your child has a food allergy, it
will be important to share that information with me at the very beginning of
the school year as sometimes students bring snacks to share on special
occasions.

Can my child bring in a special treat on his/her birthday?

Yes, a special treat to share with the class is allowed. Depending on when
it is sent in, it can be shared at snack time or lunch time. Please
remember that to avoid cross-contamination, snacks should be store-bought
and prepackaged. Thanks for your help with this!

Does my child have to write in cursive?

I prefer that the children write in cursive for classwork and homework
assignments. The exceptions to that are: during creative writing for first
drafts, on maps and charts, and if a particular student has fine motor
difficulties that prevent legible handwriting.
