LESSONS FOR THE WEEK:
RELIGION: Our focus is the gift of Jesus, he is God's gift to us. What is our gift to each other?
READING: The last selection we will read in our unit of kindness is a true adventure. It is the story of three whales that get trapped in a prison of ice. It is the kindness and hard work of the people who try to save them that compels interest during the desperate struggle to free the whales. Because it is a short week, our comprehension checkpoint will be an open book test. Do not let this fool you into thinking this will be easy. Unless you are very familiar with the story and know exactly where to look for the answer, the students will waste a lot of time looking and reading and trying to find the right place.
SPELLING: The focus will be the short u vowel sound. The words its and it's will be sorted out. Students will revisit the rule for adding s, ed, and ing to words.
PENMANSHIP: Students are forming many of their cursive letters. We will add c and writing words without a guide this week.
GRAMMAR: The test over adjectives will be Wednesday. Students should be able to find the adjective in a sentence and draw a line to the noun it is describing. They should be able to write six adjectives about a picture of a noun and write two sentences from those adjectives.
MATH: Monday students subtract two digit numbers with regrouping. There is a site on my links page that they can use to practice this concept. Tuesday they will do an assessment to evaluate understanding this far. Wednesday they will not have math because of rehearsal and program. Thursday they will find the estimated answer for a subtraction problem.
This is may plan for the week. We have program rehearsals and other things we are working on. I will be doing my best to maintain normalcy
