2008 Diocese of Raleigh Lewis Award for Excellence in Teaching

Dear Parents,

Welcome to my second grade classroom. It is a privilege to have your child
in my classroom this year and it is with pleasure that I look forward to
working with each of you.

This will be the 18th year of teaching for me. I have experience in Pre-
School, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Fourth Grade. Now, I seem to have
settled into Second grade as this is my fourth year in room 106. Second
grade is an exciting place to be. This is a year for accepting academic
responsibility, developing interpersonal relationships, and receiving two
Sacraments. A lot of growth and learning takes place in this classroom.

At home I take off my teacher’s hat and become the wife of Tom Colopy, a
residential builder. I am the mother of eight grown children and the
grandmother of three precious granddaughters that I get to see on a regular
basis. We have lived in Raleigh for 22 years and really call it home. We are
active members of St. Luke church.

During the day my focus is on my students. I work hard to try to meet their
needs and provide a learning environment; therefore, if you have any
questions or concerns regarding your child, please call my voice mail and
leave a message or send me an email. I respond as soon as possible.

Teachers open the door. You enter by yourself.
