Announcements

February 4:  This is going to be a busy week!  Finally a FULL week!  We will be celebrating the 100th day of school Wednesday.  On Friday we will be having a Heart Healthy Valentine's Day card exchange and snack.

January 27:  We have started the 3rd quarter!  I will be much better at updating the website now that the holidays are over.  We are starting new units in each subject.  Check back soon for subject updates!

December 8:  I can't believe 2009 is almost over!  December is full of activities and fun (and learning)!  Thank you for sending in supplies!

We have been working on our jobs as readers.  Ask your child about it.  It is common for children to grow at decoding  words at a faster rate than understanding what they read.  We are working hard at finding books that are "just right" reads.  That means they can decode and understand what they are reading.

We have earned another 10 compliments.  We earned 3 today!!

November 20:  The kids planted bulbs today.  They had a great time.  Thank you to Mrs. Myatt!

We have earned 20 class compliments again.  Tuesday will be stuffed animal day and pj day.

November 9:  The subject links have been updated.  I can't believe we are already starting the 2nd quarter!  The next two months will fly by and before we know it, it will be 2010!!!

Remember you can now get to this website by typing hphillips.org.  It is so much easier!!

October 23:  It has been awhile since I updated!  We have been reviewing the first quarter objectives and finishing up assessments.

October 1:  The fun run was a success!  The kids had a great time.  Terrance ran the most laps - 12!!  I will admit, I didn't run any.

September 30:  I can't believe that tomorrow is October!  This year is flying by.  The kids are doing a wonderful job - they are working hard and ROARing.  I love going to work every day!

We are also very excited about the Cougar Fun Run.  I bet we won't get much learning in tomorrow.  We also have the Character Ed. ceremony.  Kira, Bryan, Spencer, and Reese are receiving the award for respect.

We started centers today.  Guided Reading will begin next week.  The kids have been working so hard with their thinking.  I bet they get tired of me asking them why after they tell me something!  They are beginning to "dig deeper" and come up with some really great responses.

September 16:  We have received 20 class compliments!  We had a vote and bring one stuffed animal to school on Friday won!

Please remember that your child should be doing the homework independently.  They should be doing the thinking and writing.

September 12:  There will not be new info on the math page this week since we did assessments all week.  I am finally done with all of the running records.  The students will begin getting books for their book baskets this week and start reading and responding.  We will also begin the routines and expectations for our centers.

September 6:  There are now a few pictures.  I will be adding more soon.  Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!

September 4:  I have added a few new pages.  You will be able to find vocabulary and some questions that go along with what we are learning at school.  The information on these pages is review.
Also, feel free to change the homework to meet your child's needs.  Make it harder or easier and just let me know about ht adjustments.

I will be adding pictures to the site soon.  Please remember I can only use your child's photo if you signed the permission form.

As always, if you have any questions, please email me or send a note in the go folder.
