I am a native of Wilmington. I grew up attending Winter Park
Elementary, Gregory, Noble, Williston and New Hanover High Schools. I began
playing the violin in the 5th grade orchestra class at Gregory. While
attending Hanover High School I participated in the North Carolina All-
State and Honors Orchestras each year and was a member of the UNCW Community
Orchestra (now the Wilmington Symphony). After high school I attended
North Texas State University where I was chosen as a member of the 1985 All-
American College Orchestra which performed during the summer months at Walt
Disney's EPCOT Center. I earned my Bachelors degree from North
Texas in violin performance. After college I went back to work for Walt
Disney World in Florida. In 1993 I earned my Master's degree in music
education from the University of Central Florida and began teaching
orchestra and elementary music in Lakeland, Florida at Rochelle School of
the Arts, a K-8 art's magnet school.
In 1997 I moved back to Wilmington with my wife Paula and my son
Charlie and started teaching orchestra at Trask and Noble. The following
year I started teaching at Trask and Laney where I have been ever since.
I teach private violin and viola lessons at the Wilmington Academy of Music,
am a member of the Tallis Chamber Orchestra and often perform
for local weddings, receptions and other musical events.
