What are the 1st Quarter Math Objectives?

3rd Grade Objectives- 1st Quarter

Number and Operations
* number sense for numbers through 9,999
* show  numbers with words, manipulatives, and numbers
* place value through thousands
* standard form- 2,461
* expanded notation- 2,000 + 400 + 60 + 1
* word form- two thousand, four hundred sixty-one
* adding and subtracting with regrouping
* problem solving
 

Measurement
* Elasped Time

Data Analysis & Probability
* graphing- bar, circle, pictographs
* permutations & combinations (up to 3 items)
* probability problems using permutations & combinations

Algebra
* geometric & number patterns
* finding the value of x
	* x +34 = 89
	* n – 39 = 55

What is OTIS?

OTIS (Organize This Important Stuff) is a notebook your child 
will keep throughout the year that has all their classwork and 
homework.   It is a system to help your child be more independent 
with keeping up with assignments.


Help Organize OTIS  (Your child’s notebook)
Please have all items for OTIS in by the end of the first week of 
school

•	Assignment Pad (to be added the first week of school)
•	Pencil Pouch
o	1 glue stick
o	2 pencils
o	Rubber eraser
o	NO sharpener, markers, crayons, or colored pencils in 
pouch

•	4 Pocket Folders with holes labeled in marker as follows
o	Homework
o	Reading
o	Math
o	Science/Social Studies

•	Loose - leaf notebook paper at the back of notebook


All other supplies may come in separately from your child’s OTIS
