Parent Tips

HOW CHILDREN'S SCHOOL SUCCESS IS POSITIVELY AFFECTED BY PARENTS

  • Children learn more easily when parents are positiviely involved in the learning process.
  • Children progress more rapidly when parents and teachers work together
  • Children's desire to learn is enhanced by parent's support and interest.

TIPS ON HELPING YOUR CHILD HAVE A GREAT YEAR

1.  Talk regularly with your child about what he/she is learning at school.  Listening shows you care and that school is important.  Ask specific questions.

2.  Read with your child as much as possible including books, magazines,  or comic books.  Let your child pick what they want to read, this will help keep their interest.

3.  Make homework a priority.  Set a time each night and help your child when needed but don't do the work for them.

4.  Meet with your child's teacher to find out more about how you can help them to succeed.

5.  Send your child to school ready to learn.  Be sure they get enough sleep, eat breakfast daily and have proper supplies.

6.  Make sure your child knows it is important to you that they do their best.
