Nightly Reading
I have been noticing that many of the children are not reading nightly! Please remember that children learn to read by reading!! The children should be doing a picture walk with you while you discuss the vocabulary in the book, then reading the book to you. While I know this can be time consuming for many of you, it is very important. Make this a nightly bedtime routine, a nightly after dinner time - whenever you can fit it in. Remember that there are standards that the children have to meet in order to go to first grade!
Valentine Post Office
This week we will be busy working as postal workers! Please have your child bring 5 valentines to school every day this week. During workstations they will have to “buy” stamps, affix the stamps to the valentines, and mail the valentines. The postal workers will have to sort and deliver the valentines. Each child will have a turn to be a postal worker this week. Unfortunately, we are like the real postal service - we do make mistakes! When your child brings home his/her mailbox Friday afternoon, please help him/her look for valentines that do not belong to him/her. Please return those to school on Monday so we can get them to the correct child. Thanks!!
100th Day of School
will be Wednesday!! It is so hard to believe we have been here for 100 days already this year. The time is going by quickly! But, that also means we only have 80 days left and a lot of material to cover! Anyway, be sure to ask your child Wednesday about all the things we did involving 100!
