Welcome

Welcome to our school!    OUR MISSION: "is to provide all students with diverse educational opportunities that will prepare them intellectually, socially, and emotionally to meet the changing demands of the 21st century."   We believe that all children can excel at academics, and that activities and citizenship are just as important.   Our students know that we have high expectations for them, and they strive to meet them.   We welcome involvement from parents and the community.

STORM DELAYS AND CANCELLATIONS

With winter season upon us, we would like to remind parents and students of the procedure on days when we're faced with inclement weather or a winter storm. On such days, Minot radio and TV stations are notified around 6:30 a.m. that school is either cancelled or buses are delayed. When possible, these decisions will be made even earlier.

The 2 Minot TV stations, KMOT (ch. 10) and KXMC (ch. 13) both run announcements on their viewing screen approximately every 10-15 minutes. We urge you to watch one of these stations if you are in doubt about school being canceled or buses running late. In the event buses are delayed for 1 hour, than expect buses to pick up your students approximately 1 hour later than usual.

We also send weather delays and cancellations out to all homes by means of our Power School Announcement System. If you would like to be included in this system, please let Deb Volk in the library know.

We do not recommend trying to call the school before 7:30 a.m. to find out if school is delayed or canceled! Most school officials and staff are also likely having difficulty getting to school on time! Consequently, no one may be available to answer the phone when you try to reach us!

If you don't see or hear any announcements relating to Nedrose, assume school and buses are running at normal times. Understand though, if we had snow overnight or conditions are poor due to wind and blowing snow, buses may be behind schedule. That's why we insist students dress properly before boarding buses, so as to avoid frostbite.

If you live in an area where roads are quickly blocked by wind and snow, the buses will likely not attempt to travel on them. Safety of the drivers and students on the bus is our first concern. If you believe buses cannot reach your home, you may want to drop your children off at the school. On blustery days, we will normally have the doors open by 8 a.m. for parents to drop students off on their way to work. You are welcome to do this as we want your children here if at all possible, but understand that sometimes weather conditions prevent this from happening!

Under most conditions we will not dismiss school early if stormy weather moves in while students are at school. Only on very rare occasions have we been forced to do this. If so, we allow students to contact their parents by phone informing them of early dismissal. Thanks again for your cooperation and understanding!

******PARENT SURVEY******
Parent Survey
As we try to improve our school to become the best it can be, we need the help of all our parents by taking a few minutes to complete the survey at the link. Our school is involved in a continuous improvement cycle through AdvanceEd, a school improvement program. We need at least 20% of our parents/guardians to complete the survey. Thanks for helping us to make our school a great place to attend and learn! If you don't have internet connection from home, you are welcome to come to the school and use our computers.

FACS News

Hello Staff, Students, Parents/Guardians, and Community Members. This has been a great first semester for the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Junior High and High School students. They have been busy learning the many different topic areas of Family and Consumer Science. My Junior High, Independent Living, and FACS One students are currently learning cooking techniques, terms, and how to make a variety of recipes. My Housing and Interior Design students have been designing their Dream Home space.

As we get closer to the holiday seasons and end of 1st semester, projects get larger and more supplies are needed for the students. Since this is a beginning program for High School, I would love to provide as much material as I can for the students; but I may need help from our great community. To save up money for the FACS Department we could use any "Our Family" labels from their products. Include the UPC barcode and the Our Family Label Seal. Please save and send them with your students. We're also collecting any scrap fabric, felt, yarn, and sewing supplies that could be donated to our department. The students and I greatly appreciate any extra money and supplies that we can receive. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school. Thank you so much and Happy Holidays.

Miss Chelsey Lunstad, FACS Educator
