2011-12 Service Projects

This fall, the National Honor Society completed two service projects.  We expanded our breast cancer awareness activities this year to host Pink Out events at a football game, where we also sold pink balloons, at a volleyball game, where we sold split-the-pot tickets, and during school.  In total, we raised $300 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Our second fall project was the third annual Trick-or-Treat for the Hungry food drive at Halloween.
We collected over 700 food items from the generous Yutan community members and donated them to the Saunders County Food Pantry in Wahoo.  Below you can see pictures of each group with the items they collected.

This winter, our main service project was Pennies for Patients, a campaign to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  We "sold" paper pennies for $1 each to community members, students, and staff and raised over $270!  You can see our wall full of pennies below.

2010-11 Service Projects

National Honor Society completed two service projects in the fall.  First, we sponsored a Pink Out event during a football game and sold pink balloons to raise over $130 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  We also completed our
second annual food drive on Halloween: Trick-or-Treat for the Hungry.  We collected over 750 food items for the Saunders County Food Pantry.

During the winter, NHS completed two additional service projects.  The first was a diaper drive to benefit Channel 94.1's Diaper Drive for the Lydia House, a division of the Open Door Mission.  Between diapers and donations, we were able to donate over 1,000 diapers.  The second project was Pennies for Patients, where we sold paper pennies to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and raised close to $200.
