Due to tomorrow's parent-teacher conferences, we will have an early dismissal at 11am. I look forward to meeting with you all then!
I would also like to extend a HUGE "thank-you" to all the parents who gave up their time to come and support us at Bally Haly Wednesday of last week. We sincerely appreciated it!!

This week we will be practicing le comptine, "Cric Crac, Croc", along with our new weekly reader. Please be mindful of the following...
1.) A math facts strategies memo was sent home today to give you a better idea of exactly what we are currently working on in class. Thus far, we have covered up to and including strategy #11. In Grade Two, the expectation is to not only get the correct answer, but to also explain which one of the mental math strategies helped you to arrive at that answer. Please keep it in a safe place, as it is beneficial to discuss and review them periodically.
2.) Scholastic orders are due Monday, March 10th 2014.
3.) Curling will go ahead next week, on Wednesday, March 12th 2014.

Salut tout le monde!
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! We have a lot of exciting things coming up this week, including our 100th day of school celebration and our curling excursion. Feel free to come in and join us tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, February 19th, from 1:15 to 2:15pm) to help us celebrate our 100th day of school, if you are available. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for Gigi, Bernard's new sidekick, as she will be accompanying him on his nightly visits to the homes of our classmates.
This week, we will be practicing le comptine, "Gigi la girafe", along with our newly assigned leveled reader. If you have not already done so, please sign and return your child's curling permission slip on or by Thursday, February 19th. As well, our new literacy program has officially launched within our classroom and we would really appreciate it if you could send in a collection of 5 "good-fit" pieces of French literature for your child, as soon as possible, if you have not already had to opportunity to do so.
le 10 février 2014
Please be advised that there will be no school tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11th, due to a professional day for teachers.
This week we will be working on le comptine, "Ça se peut, ça se peut pas", along with our new weekly reader. Be sure to look for the weekly memo that was sent home today!
Also, we are hoping to start up our new literacy program very soon and in doing so we need your help. If you could possibly send in 5 "good-fit" (not too easy, not too hard, and interesting to the reader) pieces of French literature (e.g., picture book, informational text, novel, comic, brochures, magazines, etc.) we would greatly appreciate it. Please do not feel any pressure to go out and purchase new books. A collection of 5 books from home, older siblings, neighbors, extended family and/or friends would be beneficial, however, we have a classroom library and a school library to choose from as well if this presents a challenge.
1.) Friday, February 14th - wear red and pink
2.) Thursday, February 20th - Class Curling Excursion to Bally Hally (more information to be send home regarding this outing later this week)
Thank you for your continued support! Joyeuse Saint-Valentin!!

Welcome back from our extended long weekend! Just a quick reminder to please double check your child's sac en plastique this evening for this week's memo detailing ongoing events within the classroom. Attached to the memo, you will find your child's blogging password. Please keep this at home and reinforce the importance of keeping a password private. You will have direct access to our class blog from the "BLOGGING!" link found on the left-hand side of this website. Happy blogging! :)
As well, this week's comptine will be "Babette la baleine". Be sure to listen along to the audio clip found on the "Les comptines" link.
le 29 octobre 2013
In the anticipation of Halloween, we will be doing the chanson "C'est l'halloween", as opposed to the comptine for this week. A copy of the chanson has been sent home today inside the black reading folder. You can listen and sing along to the music video on YouTube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLUIopGXEQQ (Don't forget to record all reading practice of the chanson and the leveled reader in the journal de lecture!)
Please ensure that your child has completed and returned the "L'étoile de la semaine" posters by Mon., Nov. 4th. As well, we will be working with money next week, as part of our Math unit. Therefore, if you could possibly return the requested 100 pennies, 10 dimes, 20 nickles, 4 quarters and 1 loonie, by Mon., Nov. 4th, it would be greatly appreciated.
As noted in our weekly memo, we will be having a Halloween celebration on Thursday, Oct. 31st. Your child will be permitted to wear his or her Halloween costume during the afternoon portion of the day. Please encourage your child to come to school on this day wearing clothing that that they can easily slip their costume on over, as it simply is not feasible to have 700 children changing in the washrooms during the lunch break. Part of this celebration will involve preparing "crazy creature cupcakes" together, as a class. The cupcakes, icing and decorations will all contain peanut/tree nut-free ingredients ONLY. I kindly ask that you refrain from bringing in any goodie bags or treats for the students as the number of severe allergies throughout the school this year is extremely high. I really appreciate your support with this!

Along with the reading assessment, you should find a reading strategies bookmark, a personalized sight word book, and some French phonics support for at-home. I request that the reading strategies bookmark and the sight word book be kept in your child's "sac en plastique" when it is not in use at home as we will be using them in school on a regular basis.
