My apologies over the past few weeks for students and parents who use this website as a nightly resource! I've been experiencing difficulty over the past few weeks with both the uploading of materials on this site, as well as the lack of a stationary classroom and computer to upload the material. Hopefully, both problems have been rectified and nightly work, assignments, and due dates can be posted. If, in the future this site experiences trouble and you wish to contact me directly regarding any homework or upcoming dates, please feel free to do so!

English 9 -- ALL CLASSES -- Students today began working on their first Demand Essay response. The prompt related to Melinda Sordino from 'Speak' and the topic of social exclusion as a form of bullying. As a class, ideas were generated and put on the board and then students were given the remaining time in the period (20-25 minutes) to begin writing their responses.

As I will be away on Tuesday and Wednesday (PD Workshops!) students have until Thursday to finish these demand essays. They will be collected and read, but a grade will not be assessed. At this time, I would like a sample of each of your best writing! The expected paragraph structure and the demand essay and prompt itself are available on my website in the ELA 9 tab.

Students are also asked to use the Writing Rubric handed out in class and do a 'self-assessment' of their own writing (Link in the ELA 9 tab). This will be stapled and handed in along with the writing sample.
