AVS Garden Celebrates Earth Day!

We are pleased to announce that plans are underway for the 5th growing season in Auburn Village School’s Learning Garden! This collaborative effort sprouted from parents in the PTA and the AVS Wellness Committee, and is embraced by teachers and students alike. On April 22 we will be celebrating Earth Day in the Garden with activities including: a healthy smoothie station, a baby chick petting station, a seeds planted in recycled milk cartons, Yoga & Zumba stations, face painting, and much more! Earth Day marks the beginning of our new season and creates a lot of excitement for students as they look forward to getting outside to apply their learning in the great outdoors!

Teachers and students will once again be able to use the garden to enhance their subjects in the areas of Science, Math, Social Studies, PE, Writing, Music and Art. The garden also serves as a platform to reduce obesity by promoting appreciation for a healthy diet and outdoor lifestyle and appreciation of the natural world. Principal Collins has her own plot in the garden and fully supports this wonderful learning opportunity for our students.

Volunteers are always needed in the garden!  Feel free to stop in and see what's growing, enjoy a picnic on our tables in a peaceful setting with your children, or contact Mrs. Smith at to become even more involved.
