Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is safe and warm and seeing the light by now!!!  Electricity that is, not the other light!!  In light of not having a November meeting, I thought it would be beneficial to give everyone a calendar of the monthly upcoming events that otherwise would have been discussed at the meeting.

Ms. Boise and Ms. Price K-1st grade Family Night TBD- this was postponed.  It was suppose to happen earlier this week, but there was no power and school was cancelled.  We will start this from scratch to get a new head count and volunteer bakers back in place.

Any PTA committees interested in posting details and pictures from their committees on the PTA website, please email us your text and photos.

I think that finalizes November.  Again, any questions or requests that need to be discussed please contact the PTA email at barkapta@yahoo.com, and we will do our best to resolve or accomodate what we can.  I did get an update from Ms. Gorman regarding the Capri Sun pouches, and all seems to be going well.  It does seem to be a lot of work for very little money and I know every bit counts, so we do appreciate that hard work.  Halloween events seemed to be very successful on both nights. Thank you Charlene Thomas and Stacey Williams and committee for organizing this event.  If I missed anything, I apologize.  Again, I hope everyone is safe and well.

Regards,

Michelle McKinnon

Hello Barka PTA Families,

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.  My name is Michelle McKinnon, and I am one of the Co-Presidents of the Barka PTA.  I am going on my fourth year being involved with the PTA.  The first year I strictly volunteered my time to whatever I could just to get to know the school, the staff, and to see what events were being offered to our children.  It also helped me in preparing for upcoming years as to what I knew I loved to help with and what I could not, and in some cases where my input may have been needed most to improve an event to benefit the children more.

The next two years, I was lucky enough to become part of the PTA board as a co-vice president.  The majority of my time was still spent volunteering, which really had nothing to do with the board position, but it was nice to have a voice being heard as part of the board.  I always said anything you do with the school is what you make of it, and for the most part, every event I have been involved with has been well worth my effort and time.  There is nothing more rewarding then having the kids walk down the hall and recognize you for something that they had fun at, or something they benefited from.  That is what it is all about, and I am fortunate enough to have the time and family support to let me do what I could for the school.

Throughout the past few years, I have made great friends, I have gotten to know the majority of the staff, and have been able to leave my mark with the school through artwork that I have done.  It has been a great experience so far, and I am looking forward to another successful year.  Remember our school and events would not run as smoothly if it wasn't for our volunteers putting in as little or as much time as they can!!!

Regards,
