October classroom news October has been another busy
month for the Kindergarten classes. We
have lots going on and some fun things planned to look forward to! Each week two lowercase letters of the alphabet continue
to be introduced. So far we have covered
a, b, c, f, g, i, m, n, o, r, and t. We are learning letter songs, practicing
handwriting and thinking of words (to draw pictures) that begin with the
letters of the week. Each day we also
practice coming up with rhyming words and on other days we work on clapping out
how many syllables in a word. For math this month, the classes have been introduced to
number stories (simple “word problems”), reviewing patterns, doing lots of
counting, and working on number writing.
Thank you for working on the math homelinks
that have been sent home to support what we are doing in the classroom. We are continuing to do different Foss Science lessons
this month. We are learning about TREES;
looking at different tree types, labeling the parts of a tree, and talking
about leaves. Our Health theme for this
month is the Five Senses. The following October dates should be jotted down on your
calendar and are a reminder of upcoming activities: October 23rd - Last day to turn in permission slips and money for
Emery Farm fieldtrip October 28th- Emery Farm fieldtrip- AM class is going from
9:00-11:00 and PM class is going from 11:30-1:30 (PM class will eat lunch
before we go at 11:00). If your child
has a “booster seat” type car seat, please have it come to school that
day. Chaperones for both trips need to
be at the classroom 10 minutes prior to our departure times. October 31st- Halloween: the AM class will have their party from
9:10-9:40, and the PM. class will have their parade and party from 1:00-1:30. Parents are welcome to come to the parties and
the parade. AM students are invited to
come back to school in costume at 12:45 to
participate in the afternoon K-2 parade. Thanks for your
continued support at home and if you have any questions or concerns please do
not hesitate to get in contact with me! Kara Barnes |
