Mr Young is a former Air Force pilot who is finally living his high school
dream of becoming a music teacher. He is in his eighth year of teaching
instrumental music to students in the 4th through 8th grades. He has also
taught at the high school level for three years and taught computer music
notation at the Summer Music Youth School at the University of New
Hampshire. Mr. Young performs regularly in at least five instrumental music
groups including the Seacoast Wind Ensemble (as concertmaster), Musique du
Bois (a woodwind quintet), and Opa's Oompah Band (an authentic German folk
music band), the New Legacy Swing Band, and Rich's Little Band (a small
concert/parade band). His primary instruments are the clarinet, and alto
and baritone saxophones. Mr. Young resides in Stratham, with his wife
Marilyn.
To learn how to play an instrument in an ensemble setting, while performing
and rehearsing many diverse varieties of music. To develop a life-long
appreciation of instrumental music, and other forms of music whether as a
performer, listener, or promoter of music.
