The Spanish program has developed and changed since it was intoduced at GCS
in 1997. The program began with classes taught only to the Seventh and some
Eighth graders. The program has grown to include an elementary component
starting with the Third graders as well as classes for all Eighth graders.
Currently all students Third through Eighth grade are studying Spanish
language and culture. Eighth grade Spanish is offered as a half year class
opposite cooking and woodworking or for a full year. As the program at GCS
grows the amount of curriculum covered also increases. After successfully
completing the classes in the program, our students go on to the second or
third class in the sequence of Spanish classes at PHS. We will continue to
evaluate and assess the program yearly to best meet the needs of our students.
