We would like to thank parents for their efforts at keeping sick children at home as well as giving them the extra recovery day.  We realize it is not easy, and just want you to know how much it is appreciated.

There is a 6th Grade Performance tonight at 6:30 pm in the Gym.  It is rumored to be a show you don’t want to miss!  If you are bringing a performer, please have them there between 6:00 and 6:15 pm.  All are invited!

The NBCS Annual Food Drive will start this Monday, November 9th.  Your donations will help to stock the New Boston Food Pantry, which is located in the CommunityChurch, and will also help stock the NH Food Bank.  Please check the Thursday notices for the next several weeks to see what foods are most needed.  Currently, the NB Food Pantry could really use school snacks, breakfast foods (boxes of cereal, instant oatmeal), juice boxes, canned meals (stews, ravioli, etc), pastas, spaghetti sauce, and canned fruits.  Thank you!!

Kindergarten/First Grade Registration for the 2010-2011 school year is currently underway.  We are registering all incoming kindergarten students and incoming first grade students who currently attend an outside kindergarten.  Your child must be 5 by September 30, 2010 to be eligible for public kindergarten and 6 by September 20, 2010 to be eligible for first grade.  Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization record/physical and 2 proofs of residence (driver’s license showing address and a cable/phone/electric bill for example).  Registration runs through November 6th.  Please remind friends or neighbors with school age children needing to register for kindergarten or first grade.  This is a budgetary process every year, and we need to make sure we have enough teachers to cover the number of incoming students.

Last reminder, you can still register on-line for the PatsPeak skiing and boarding program.  Our user name is NBCS-SKI and the password is BOBCAT.

The New Boston Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts will be collecting gently used books to be distributed at the ManchesterCommunityHealthCenter in collaboration with the Reach Out and Read program.  Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud in pediatric exam rooms across the nation.   Doctors and nurses know that growing up healthy means growing up with books. The ROR program provides the tools to help promote children's developmental skills and later school success.   If anyone not in scouts would like to donate children's books with positive, non-offensive themes and literacy value please pass them on to a scouting friend or contact Lori Mattison at 487-5032 or Lori@mattisoncontracting.com.

In light of the tragic events in Mont Vernon and the evident concerns of community members, the New Boston Police Department in concert with UNH Justiceworks, the New Hampshire Department of Safety and Reverend Woodland will be holding a Community Assistance Forum to assist community members with their concerns.  This forum will be held in the CommunityChurch on November 16th at 7:00 pm.  We encourage all who have concerns about the community’s safety to attend.
