These are the steps used by the 8th Grade Research class to write a
research
paper.
Choose an appropriate topic. Make sure that it is not too general, neither should it be too specific. |
Record what you already know about the topic and questions about what you don't know. |
Think of keywords that could be used to guide you to information about your topic. |
Explore the topic by a reading general source (encyclopedia) in order to gain a basic understanding. |
Decide on the focus for your project. |
Read authoritative sources and take notes on the specific ideas about which you chose to write (the focus). |
Organize your notes to create a final outline. |
Write a rough draft of your paper. |
Type your rough draft using the correct MLA format. Be sure to save a copy on your school account. |
Edit the typed draft by having a peer read it aloud to you. Make the correction on the computer. |
Create a works cited page. |
Staple the completed parts together in the right order give it to your teacher. |
