November 7, 2009
Dear Pelham Memorial Music Parent,
The music department recently concluded its fall fundraiser and we want to
thank you very much for your efforts in making this a successful event. Once
again, the proceeds will go towards purchasing concert shirts and music
department equipment, and this year we are going to the Nutcracker Ballet in
Boston, MA.
On Saturday, December 5 students will meet in front of PMS at 10:00 AM. They
will be going for lunch and will then travel to the Opera House in Boston and
return to the school approximately 4:30pm. Students must be in appropriate
attire – jeans, sneakers, sweat suits, t-shirts and sweatshirts are not
considered appropriate attire. Students without appropriate attire will not
be allowed on the bus.
All students will be quizzed on the textbook material and the concert music
during the entire year. The Grades 6-8 Band courses are aligned with the core
subjects and students will continue to receive progress reports and report
card grades each quarter. Additional information, as well as upcoming
events, quiz dates, calendar updates and homework assignments may now be
found on the web at www.pelhamweb.com/memorial - follow the link to BAND.
This year music make up for tests and quizzes is on Thursdays from 2:15-3.
Auditions for the Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone Chamber Ensembles will be
the week of November 16th. Thank you to all the parents who will be
arranging transportation for these early morning rehearsals. Rehearsals
begin at 7:15 AM and run until approximately 7:35 AM. Their competition is
at Keene State College on February 13, 2010, times TBA.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that the Holiday
Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:00 pm for all bands and
choruses. Donations will be accepted at the door: $2.00 for students and
$3.00 for adults. Again, concert attire consists of the blue band shirt,
black dress pants or black skirts, black socks, dark shoes – NO SNEAKERS,
JEANS OR SWEAT PANTS.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Paul A. Santerre
