What should a student bring to class each day?

Each student should bring his/her book, pen, pencil, notebook, assignment 
book, homework, and a good attitude!

How are report card grades determined?

Homework is worth 25%
Quiz grades are worth 35%
Test/Project grades are worth 40%

How important is a student's English notebook?

A student's English notebook is an important tool. Students use it to take 
notes, and they do classwork and homework in their notebooks. Students need 
to bring it to class every day, and they need to bring it home every night. 

When students are working on essays, then homework is done on the 
computer and copies are brought into class.

How is homework graded/checked?

Homework is always checked the day it is due.
Each homework assignment is worth a total of 5 points.
For Written Assignments:
If 100% of the homework is finished, he/she will receive 5 points.
If 80% of the homework is finished, he/she will receive 4 points.
If 60% of the homework is finished he/she will receive 3 points.
If 40% of the homework is finished he/she will receive 2 points.
If 20% of the homework is finished he/she will receive 1 point.
If 0% of the homework is finished he/she will receive 0 points.

For Reading Assignments:
A 5 question, quick, objective quiz is given, and it is graded using the 
same 5 point system.

Is late homework accepted?

No, homework is due the day it is due!
In the case of absence, 2 days are allowed for every day a student is absent 
to make up any work.

Are students allowed to go to their lockers for forgotten supplies/homework?

No, students must use their scheduled locker times to gather all supplies 
needed.

How does a student get homework when he/she was absent?

Students can check the Teacher Web Site, the daily homework sheet hung in 
every 7th grade homeroom, or call a friend.

Is Parent Portal helpful?

Yes, it allows a parent to check the progress of his/her child 24/7!
Information is sent out the first week of school to parents to sign up for 
Parent Portal.
