I had wanted to be a teacher since high school, but originally pursued a
career as a software engineer instead. I graduated from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (RPI) with a bachelor's degree in Computer and Systems
Engineering in 1984. I worked as a software engineer for 11 years before
becoming a domestic engineer and caretaker of my two sons.
Volunteering in my sons' classrooms rekindled my desire to become a teacher,
so I went back to school. I earned my master's degree in Elementary
Education from Lesley University in 2004. I am a certified teacher in both
New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I have fulfilled all of the requirements
necessary to be considered a Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT), as defined by
No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
Before becoming a classroom teacher at PES, I was a daily substitute
teacher, a long-term sub in both Enrichment and Readiness, and an
Instructional Assistant here. I was also a long-term sub in first grade at
Brookside Elementary School in Dracut, MA. I taught second grade for two years
before moving to fourth grade.
I have lived in Pelham for ten years with my husband and two sons. The
newest member of our family is a black labrador retriever that we adopted in May.
My mission for the class is for each student to enjoy learning and become an
independent thinker and problem solver within a cooperative community.
