Welcome!
I am so excited to be your child's Readiness teacher. This is my second
year as a classroom teacher at Pelham Elementary School. However, this is
my sixth year at P.E.S. I was an instructional assistant for the special
education department for three years, then I was given the oppourtuntiy to be
a reading tutor for the Title I program. I supported reading instruction in
the classroom for grades 1-3. This was a woderful experience for me, because
I am very passionate about reading and I became very familiar with the
reading programs that are used in the school, especially the first grade
reading program. Last year I taught first grade and it was the most
rewarding and wonderful year!
On a personal note, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in American
Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education from Lesley University.
I also received my Masters degree in Special Education at Lesley, teaching
students with moderate disabilities. I live in Bradford, Ma. with my
husband. We bought a home last October and it is a very old home, so
needless to say we spend a lot of our free time renovating. We are learning
a lot :) I also enjoy reading and spending time with
my family and friends.
I have wanted to be an elementary school teacher my whole life and I feel so
fortunate have begun my career at Pelham Elementary. I have felt at home
here since my first day, six years ago. The staff, students, and families
have always been wonderful and very supportive. I look forward to meeting
all of you and your children. I can't wait to begin this wonderful journey
together!
I believe in creating a classroom environment that is safe, respectful,
nurturing, and most importantly, engaging. I want each and every student
that walks into the classroom to feel valued and accepted. My goal is to
make sure that each student feels successful in the classroom and has a
positive outlook on learning. I truly believe that every child can learn
and can be successful, and I will do everything I can to ensure this of each
student that I teach.
