If you are redoing your Research Paper you need to have the draft by tomorrow and have someone peer edit for you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homework (formative assessment) is graded on a scale of (0 - 5).
Students will receive a 0 for no homework.
Students will receive a 1, 2 3, or 4 for partial completion of homework and a 5 for total completion.

To receive a score of 5 the student only needs to put in the effort and answer all the questions, the answers do not have to be correct.

However if a student fails to bring his or her homework assignment to class they will not receive any credit.

I do not take late homework assignments, as we go over the answers in class and this would give all students the opportunity to write down the correct answers without trying.

Nor do I allow students to leave the English classroom room and go to their locker. I find that allowing student to leave English class to search their locker is usually an
unsuccessful task.

This is why it is so important for each student have a 1" binder for English class. This tool will assist the student to be organized and successful.

The only homework I will take late is homework that is a long term assignment (summative assignment) - A deduction of 10pts will be taken for each day a summative assessment is late.

Absent work - It is the responsibility of the absent student to retrieve the work that they missed while out. They may check my web-site as I keep a blog of daily activities, and the homework page.

If work has been passed out to the students while they were out, it is the responsibility of the student to check the basket in the front of the classroom, as I will put assignments in there that they are missing.  Makeup work (absent work) may be place in the basket on my desk. I go through it generally each night and will
return it the next day.

For school grading policy please go to that page. Thank you.

No Child Left Behind:

The Football Version

  Author Unknown*

l. All teams must make the state playoffs, and all will win the championship. If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable.

2. All kids will be expected to have the same football skills at the same time and in the same conditions. No exceptions will be made for interest in football, a desire to perform athletically, or genetic abilities or disabilities. ALL KIDS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT A PROFICIENT LEVEL.

3. Talented players will be asked to work out on their own without instruction. This is because the coaches will be using all their instructional time with the athletes who aren't interested in football, have limited athletic ability, or whose parents don't like football.

4. Games will be played year round, but statistics will only be kept in the 4th, 8th, and 11th games.

5. This will create a New Age of sports where every school is expected to have the same level of talent and all teams will reach the same minimal goals.

If no child gets ahead, then no child will be left behind.

We must become the change we want to see.
