STUDENT POETRY CONTESTS

Announces Its Annual Student Contests

Rules for the PSNH/NHCTE Student Poetry Contests:

 

·         These contests are open to all students attending Grades 1-12 in NH.

·         Postmarked deadline every year is April 30.

·         Submissions may be made by students or submitted by teachers as multiple entries for their class as long as the submission requirements below are met.

·         Three poem limit per student.

·         Line limit is 40 lines per poem. Any style. Theme is open.

·         Prepare two copies of each submission.

·         The first copy of each poem shall be without any personal identification.

·         The second copy shall have the following in the upper right hand corner: the student’s name, home address and email address, the school’s name and address, and the student’s grade in school. It must have a signed statement certifying that the poem is original and has not been copied, in whole or in part, from another author’s work (including poems posted on the internet).

·         Both copies must state "Junior Division" (grades 1-8) or "Senior Division" (high school) in the upper left hand corner.

·         All poems shall be neatly typed or computer-generated on white paper. If the poem is longer than a single page then staple the second page to the first.

·         Please no large print, illustrations or unusual type fonts (e.g., Gothic or script).

·         Submissions may have been previously published and may have won prizes.

·         Include one stamped, self-addressed #10 business-sized envelope (SASE) with your entry.

·         Up to ten winning poems in each division will be published in The Poets’ Touchstone, PSNH's quarterly publication.

·         We cannot be responsible for poems lost or delayed by the mail. No poems will be returned, so do not send your only copies. Entries that do not follow the guidelines will be neither considered nor returned.
