Unit 7 Homographs
A homograph is a word that is spelled the same as another word but has a
different meaning and sometimes a different pronunciation
present: when you are present you are there in person
present: a gift, you give it
minute: something very small
minute: a measure of time
refuse: if you refuse to do something you won’t do it
refuse: trash
invalid: something that is no longer in force
invalid: someone who is sick
object: something that you can see or touch
object: to object to something is to oppose it

Students who choose to do this challenging work have been given a packet.
There are 10 additional homographs.
OUTSIDE READING: Students should read for 20 minutes 6 nights a week and
complete the reading log. (A list of book, pages read and parent signature)
After two of these sessions, they need to complete the Reading Response form.
All will be collected on 11/23
DOL: We will complete through sentence 65 in class this week. These sentences
are stapled in the DOL notebook. Corrections follow. Students should review
these sentences for Friday’s quiz.
