Paul A. Santerre is a graduate of Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire,
with a Bachelor of Music and a graduate of the University of Maine with a
Masters of Music in Instrumental Conducting. Currently Mr. Santerre is
teaching instrumental music in Pelham, New Hampshire. From 1983 through 1986,
he served as an instrumental music educator for grades five through eight in
the Manchester Public Schools in Manchester, New Hampshire. Mr. Santerre then
served as Director of Bands at Manchester High School West, in Manchester, New
Hampshire, from 1986 until 1997.
Santerre spent ten years on the executive board of the New Hampshire Music
Educators Association serving as Jazz Chairperson. In 1997 he represented New
Hampshire at the MENC conference in Baltimore, Maryland by presenting two
workshop sessions on beginning at statewide jazz program which included a
primary focus of vocal jazz.
Santerre is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, former
Chairman of the New Hampshire Jazz All-State Festival, a member of the New
Hampshire All-State Band Committee, formerly a member of the New Hampshire
All-State Orchestra Committee and has served on the Executive Board of the New
Hampshire Band Directors Association.
Music communicates through the language of sound in all its dimensions:
dynamics, tempo, articulation, tone color, rhythm, pitch, form, style and
cultural context. Through music education students create aural
relationships through the development of listening skills involving the ear,
the mind and the body.
