We have a wonderful class this year. Your children have been very polite and helpful. I feel extremely fortunate. We are presently learning about celebrations from other parts of the world. We will visit eight countries during this unit. If you have information or items you would like to share about your culture, or if you would like to come into class as a guest speaker, please let me know. Your child will not have a test about the information of the countries. I will assess them through their writings, drawings, projects, and daily work that will be done in school. My goal is for the children to have fun while learning traditions of other countries. I will be focusing on increasing their reading and writing skills throughout this unit. The children will write three sentences about each country. All the children have progressed nicely in their writing abilities. We are currently learning how to write a quality sentence. We have discussed the importance of describing words and how to make sentences interesting and meaningful. They are also learning how to edit their own writing. We will be performing our holiday play on December 21, 2009 at 2:15. The play will be held in the west wing common area on the second floor. I hope you can come. The play will last approximately 20 minutes. Please have your child wear a traditional costume from the country he/she is assigned. Do not go out and buy any items, but be creative. If you do not have a computer to gather ideas for the costume write me a note, and we can look in class. Your child should be studying his/her lines and practicing speaking loud and clear. The parts will be sent home on Monday. Would you please send any empty toilet paper rolls to school with your child. We will be making a craft with them. I would like each child to bring in a gift for himself/herself to keep in the classroom. The children will be encouraged to share their gift during indoor recess. The gift should be wrapped and labeled prior to bringing it to school. Please keep the cost of the gift 7.00 or under. Examples are markers, cards, blocks, games, etc. Let me know if this is a problem for you. Thank you again for all your help and support. It is greatly appreciated. I hope your holidays are relaxing and enjoyable.
Or, would you like to view and optionally restore one of these previous versions?
