Dear Class of 2012 Students and Parents,
Welcome to the Class of 2012 official web page! Many of you with older children know that this marks a pivotal and exciting time in our childrens' careers here at PES. In the next few years, our children will continue to grow and develop academically through their classes while honing athletic, artistic and other interests through extracurriculars. We are very fortunate to be part of a learning community that also values the importance of social growth. That's where our Class Advisor system and these web pages come in. Here are just a few activities promoting social growth that we have to look forward to over the next three years.
Outings and other fun activities: From capture the flag, to movie nights, to open gym and even baking activities, we want to offer something for everyone. Our hope is to include activities you already enjoy as well as some things you may not have tried before and of course the bottom line is that we want to have fun!
Community Service opportunities: From cleaning up the Brook Road to offering services to our neighbors, the Class of 2012 will experience firsthand the benefits of being part of a community like Plainfield where neighbors help one another and we all do our part.
Fundraising: Closely related to community service initiatives, fundraising will focus on learning the value of working hard towards a goal while also finding ways to do this that bring community together ( the 7th grade auction) or provides an important services (babysitting services at school events, etc.)
8th Grade Class Trip: All of this team building, character development and fun will culminate in what we hope will be a memorable class trip. The trip is a revered tradition here in Plainfield where kids who have shared most of their formative time and experiences under the same roof at 92 Bonner Road set out with their time tested friends to explore new horizons one last time as a cohesive group. One of the reasons this is so special in Plainfield is that this rite of passage marks the last time these kids will be all together by themselves as learners before heading off to different high schools with lots of new peers.
Here's the best part. While we know what we want to accomplish, it's entirely up to us how we get there. As we begin on our journey, we would like to hear from each and every parent and student about the kinds of activities, community service, fundraising drives, and trips you envision. How do you want to spend the next three years together as a class? What activities will make this time special? Do you have talents you can offer along the way? Tell us all of this and more by completing our online survey.
We promise to take your feedback seriously and to incorporate as many of your suggestions and ideas as possible over the next three years. Also, if you think of new things along the way, please feel free to contact me through the advisor email link to the left.
