September 17, 2008

*Please note the minutes are tailored to be viewed on the website. If you would like to see the full
version, please contact the PTA President.

OLD BUSINESS
Our current income, budget and expenses were discussed.

We have been asked to bake for the African event on October 7, from 6:30-7:30pm. Volunteers will
be needed.

NEW BUSINESS
FUNDRAISERS
1)"LOCAL FUNDRAISER"
Participants include the Taylor Brothers, Pottery by Evy, Cook in the Kitchen, and Garfield's
Smokehouse. Our Blackhawk Breakfast Box (including our own “PES Blackhawk” label) will include
pancake mix, syrup, bacon, and pottery (maple leaf or spoon rest).
Betsy will investigate Vista Print to do the labels and order forms (one per family). Ordering will be
from October 6-17, with delivery the week of December 8. We will need volunteers to organize the
packages for distribution.

2) SOCCER TOURNEY – KUA – November 2, 2008 (7:00am – 9:00pm)
A) 7TH GRADE INTERESTED IN HELPING
PTA will organize food for sale, possibly sharing the income with the seventh grade, i.e., they could
run their own snack table. Betsy will find out more details from Brandon such as being prepared for
a last minute tournament relocation. It was proposed that the PTA food sale be advertised in the
tournament brochure.

3) 'TIS THE SEASON CRAFT SHOW
November 15, 9:00am-4:00pm
Prices for space rental will be $25 for the gym, $15 for the hallway, $2 for children to bring a card
table. Lunch will be available for $5 (soup, roll, drink and two cookies). We will need volunteers to
provide food donations. Delinda suggested that we target a larger audience by being specific as to
the vendors that will be attending.

BABYSITTING COURSE - 7TH GRADE
It was decided that PTA will pay for half the cost of the babysitting course to occur in October, the
other half coming from individual participants.
AUTHOR
This is planned for February or March. Members of the faculty and staff proposed a media journalist.
We are waiting for more feedback, then the faculty and staff will vote.

SCIENCE PROGRAM
This is proposed for May.

MISCELLANEOUS
Teacher’s Luncheon – proposed for December

Check the website! It will be updated. Gina suggested that we include volunteer requests in the
newsletter and by email. She also suggested that in the title for volunteer requests, the event and
date be first, to command attention.

The morning meeting held on September 16 at 7:30am was very successful. Many teachers
enthusiastically requested that we hold the morning meeting a different day of the week.

Family Fun Night – Friday, September 19, 5:30pm. This will be a potluck with drinks provided.
Kickball will be held on the front field.
