Weekend Reading
Weekend Reading will go home most Fridays in a manila envelope. You will see some mini-book titles on the front of the envelope. On the back are blank lines. Please use this area to initial and date the envelope indicating that your child did in fact read the Scholastic News magazine inside the envelope.
Students become good readers by reading. There is no substitute for daily reading. I understand that weekends are busy, busy, busy. Again, the goal is to get interesting, relevant, printed material in front of my students' eyes and brains as much as is humanly possible. The reading itself should take no longer than 20 - 30 minutes. Great bedtime reading.
DO NOT INITIAL THE ENVELOPE IF THE READING WASN'T DONE. IT IS THE WRONG MESSAGE TO SEND TO YOUR CHILD.
