Ask Your Child!

 Hello Parents!

I know that it must be hard to keep up with all the great things that your child is learning about in school!  Don't worry!  Your cutie will be able to keep you updated!  So many things that we didn't learn in school!   I will add to our list of questions often but please don't hesitate to ask your child for any help that you may need!  They will be helping me come up with questions for you! :)  Good Luck in first grade!

Love, Mrs. Debi Marinelli :)

1.  WHAT IS A "RED" WORD?

A "red"  word is a word that does not follow the rules.  We cannot tap the sounds out or finger spell it.  We practice red words by tapping them down our arm and singing Mrs. Marinelli's catchy tune.  Have you heard it yet?  I'll start you off... "Stop!  It's a red word!"

 2. What do you call a tree that is green all year?

3.  What is our state tree?

4. What is our state bird?

5.  What is the difference between a Scarlet Oak and a White Oak tree?

6. What is a 'cvc' word?

A 'cvc' word is a word made up of a consonant, vowel, consonant.  Our word wall word /can/ is a 'cvc' word!  Look for more when you are reading, on signs, and in your home!

7. What is a whisper phone and how do you use it?

A whisper phone is a phone that we can talk into, hear sounds, and it is so quiet!  Ask your child!

8.Why do "good readers" use the pictures to help them read?

9. Why do leaves change color in the Fall?
