| We have had a wonderful start to our school year. We have been
developing classroom routines, learning about each other and establishing a
foundation to encourage our best learning. We have been learning many new
songs and poems.
In reading, we are talking about what kind of reader we all are and why
we read. We practice our reading process (class learning, quiet reading,
conferencing, and sharing). We are currently investigating how to chose good
books for our reading time.
During our writing time, we are participating in an activity called
Student of the Day. We randomly choice one student each day. We interview,
write a brief class narrative, and make each choosen student their very own
special book.
When it is time for math, we are exploring the math tools that we will be
using throughout the year. We are reviewing coins and clocks. We are
also using games to help us with our math study.
We will be starting our rock unit. We will be sorting and classifying
and learning about the rock cycle.
